About Mr. Conver

Chris Conver has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in curriculum and instructional design from University of Phoenix. He has also earned all of the credits required for a bachelor’s in history with an emphasis on U.S. history and will soon earn his bachelor’s degree in information technology and software development soon.

Conver feels his best quality as a teacher is making education fun and relevant to his students. “When I design and deliver my lessons, I try to make them so the students want to be in my class,” he said.

When teaching at Athlos, Conver always looks forward to the movement. “There are many schools that want students in their desks the entire class time to learn,” he said. “However, this is a difficult thing to do. Athlos wants movement breaks; we want the kids to be active throughout the day to help them learn better. Incorporating movement into the lessons keeps students involved and interested in what is going on.”

Favorite Performance Character Trait: Grit

“Grit has always been one that I relate to the most,” he said. “I have always refused to fail or stop striving for my goals, regardless of what happens. We cannot control when bad things happen, but we can control how we respond. My response is always to keep going forward.”

Fun Facts about Mr. Conver

Q: What are three fun facts about you?

  • I was born broken! I have had over 20 operations throughout my life.
  • I started learning American Sign Language as a young adult when I went deaf and became fluent (and started to help teach the classes) within four months.
  • As much as I love learning now, and with how long I have been in college (11 years), I actually almost didn’t graduate high school.
