About Ms. Martin

Jurate Martin graduated from George Washington University in Washington, DC with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 1992 and is currently working toward her master’s degree at Drexel University in secondary education with an emphasis in mathematics.

From 1991 to 1993, Martin taught second grade in the Washington, DC area public schools. For three years, Martin taught kindergarten, first grade, and high school in New Jersey, and taught fourth grade at Aristotle Academy, a charter school in American Fork, Utah.

When asked about her best quality as an educator, Martin said, “I really care about my students and want to develop a good, positive relationship with the whole child. I have a passion for learning in all areas from academics, social and emotional skills, and physical health too!”

“I really enjoy teaching and connecting with my students in our morning huddles every day!” she said. “I absolutely love bringing math class to a level of fun and learning at the same time!”

Favorite Performance Character Trait: Courage

“I believe it takes courage to achieve the impossible and to stretch your limits in a healthy way by stepping outside your comfort zone to aid and encourage others, as well,” Martin said. “Courage for students is needed in healthy doses for academics and physical exercise. All of us have strengths and weaknesses, but courage can help overcome even in our hardest trials.”
