HERRIMAN- Athlos Academy of Utah is pleased to announce the hiring of Mandy Kartchner as the charter school’s new executive director. Kartchner previously served as assistant head of school at Channing Hall in Draper, Utah.
“As the director of Athlos Academy of Utah I will be a committed and successful leader who provides direction and purpose to shape a positive school culture,” Kartchner said. “Through academic excellence, building healthy lifestyles, and developing character, I will inspire students to become dedicated life-long learners devoted to their own success. I believe that all students deserve a quality education delivered by qualified and caring teachers.”
Kartchner is a life-long resident of Utah. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Westminster College, her K-12 special education certificate from Utah State University, and her master’s degree in educational leadership from Western Governors University. Prior to serving as assistant head of school at Channing Hall, Kartchner was the school’s director of special education. She also taught special education at Connections Academy in Bountiful and West Hills Middle School in West Jordan.
Kartchner has two children. She enjoys spending time in the mountains, running, swimming, reading, and traveling.
Athlos Academy provides a unique approach to teaching and learning in the Herriman area. Its mission is to provide high quality educational opportunities for the whole child built on the three foundational pillars: Prepared Mind, Healthy Body, and Performance Character. Students participate in at least four scientifically developed physical activity sessions each week, performance character is integrated into the culture of the school, and high academic achievement is an expectation for all students.
