Yolanda Carver (Loni)

Yolanda Carver, also known to many as Miss Loni, attended Weber State University and is currently working towards receiving a Bachelors of Science in General Education. She accumulated 8 years of experience at a dance studio before transitioning into the position of librarian for over two and a half years at another school.

As of last year, Loni joined Athlos as an ELA teacher for 5th and 6th grade. Currently, she is thrilled to be embarking on her new role as the 5th and 6th Grade Social Studies teacher. She’s looking forward to making each year memorable for the students and strives to make her classroom a place that students always want be in. Her best quality as an educator is understanding her students and being able to explain why we do things in a way that they can understand and respect. She also has a talent of making assignments fun, while keeping them educational – sometimes her students don’t even realize they are learning!

Loni was drawn to the Athlos Model because there isn’t one focus; she believes in well-rounded education and when you combine a prepared mind with healthy body and performance character, you are creating magic! “When you add in the fact that we not only have a focus on athletic movement, healthy lifestyle choices, performance character, but still have music, art, and a drama club, you get the full package,” Loni said.

Loni’s main goal as an educator is to educate students on the importance of structure and respect while making the environment magical and fun. She also strives to inspire her students to make positive choices both inside and outside of the classroom. She loves finding creative ways for ALL of the students to learn at a level that fits their needs.
